It Has A Name!

Melasma!  The random square of dark skin on my forehead that I regularly complain about, which is caused by birth control and sun damage, is called Melasma.  There. We've all learned something today.

The main suggestion I found for treating it is just bleaching the area, which I don't really want to do. I'm not good at coloring within the lines. I'll end up with a frame of lighter skin around the original darker skin, knowing me. Hopefully, next time I see my doctor she'll have a solution for me, but in the meantime, has anyone out there dealt with this?

(I took a close up picture of my forehead to show you guys, but seriously, my forehead looks like 90 years old in it, square aside.  Maybe I need to start applying creams and potions. Yikes.)

Blending and burning

I'm going rooftop tanning tomorrow and perhaps to a music festival as well. Maybe the random birthmark that has appeared on my forehead will blend in to the rest of my face? I did buy some Sun Fragrence Free mineral sunscreen and I'll let you all know if it keeps me from toasting. I've never tried mineral sunscreen before.

Tramp Stamp

I have a patch of darker skin that has slowly appeared on my forehead. I thought this was due to years and years of childhood sunburns finally coming back to kick me in the ass, but turns out it's due to birth control. My mother's friend said that as soon as she saw it that's the first thing she thought. So basically anyone who sees me will be able to see that I am taking birth control because it is stamped onto my forehead. Wonderful.
